2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Earns a Top Safety Pick + Award from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety
The Volkswagen Tiguan is no stranger to automotive awards. After earning the title (s) of Best Compact SUV, Car and Driver Editors’ Choice, and being acknowledged for its impressive gas mileage, the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan has received a Top Safety Pick + award.
This is also the third consecutive year that the Tiguan has received a Top Safety Pick award.
Top Safety Pick + award is based on “good” ratings in six crashworthiness tests plus no less than an “acceptable” rating for standard headlights, and no less than an “advanced” rating for both front crash prevention tests. The 2022 Tiguan earns good ratings in all six of those evaluations. All Tiguan models come standard with LED headlights, with the addition of the Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) with dynamic cornering lights on the top trim.
Volkswagen’s Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring (Front Assist) is intended to warn drivers of potential frontal collisions (Frontal Collision Warning) with vehicles and pedestrians, and in some cases provide automatic braking assistance (Automatic Emergency Braking).
In addition to Front Assist, other driver assistance features offered on the 202 Tiguan model include Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor) and Rear Traffic Alert. Volkswagen’s IQ. DRIVE technology is also available, and enables Travel Assist (semi-automated driving assistance), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Stop and Go and Lane Assist Lane Keeping System).
