Volkswagen’s new seven-passenger Atlas SUV is a stylish, roomy, modern, and efficient offering that has received many accolades since coming to the market in 2017. Now, you can also call it a 5-Star safety award winner.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas a 5-Star safety rating after putting it through their New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). NCAP provides front, side, and rollover crash test ratings. Volkswagen’s 2018 Atlas achieved 5-Star overall ratings in the frontal crash, side crash, and overall rating categories.

“The Volkswagen Atlas is designed for the modern American family,” said Hendrik Muth, Senior Vice President, Product Marketing and Strategy. “There’s nothing more important than keeping your family safe and the Atlas is engineered to help do that with excellent structural integrity and numerous available safety and driver assistance features.”

The 2018 Atlas SUV joins VW’s Golf family, as well as the Jetta, Jetta GLI, and Passat as 2018 models that all have an overall 5-Star rating.

Volkswagen’s Atlas offers many advanced safety features that make it one of the safest SUVs available on the market. The Altas is the only vehicle in its class to offer the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, which is standard across all Atlas models.

Additionally, the Atlas offers available modern safety features such as Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring (Front Assist), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Overhead View Camera (Area view), and more.
